Selection Stage: Ensure Quality from the Source (The Most Critical Step)
Once a pallet deforms in a cold storage due to quality issues, it is almost irreparable, hence selecting the right product in the first place is fundamental.
1. Material is Key Low-temperature High-toughness Steel Must Be Used
Ordinary steel becomes brittle and loses toughness at low temperatures, making it prone to brittle fracture or bending deformation when subjected to impact or overload.
Solution: Ensure to choose pallet racks clearly marked as "Cold Storage Specific" or made with "Low-temperature High-oughness Steel" (such as Q345D). This type of steel maintains good mechanical properties and impact toughness even at temperatures as low as -40℃ lower.
2. Structural Design: Scientific and Reasonable, Reinforcing Key Areas
Material Thickness: The thickness of the steel used in main loadbearing components (such as columns and base beams) must be sufficient. It is not acceptable to choose excessively thin materials to save costs.
Structural Reinforcement Check if there is reinforcement design at key load-bearing points, such as:
Column Base: Whether it comes with reinforcing ribs or reinforced foot pads, which are-incidence areas for forklift impact.
Corner Connections: Whether they are welded firmly and if there are additional triangular plates for reinforcement.
Design: The design should ensure that the load is evenly distributed, avoiding stress concentration.
3. Manufacturing Process: Welding and Surface Treatment
Welding: Welds should be full, uniform, and free of missed or incomplete welds. Poor welding spots are a common cause of structural failure.
Surface Treatment:E-coat Spraying is the best choice.
It provides much better adhesion, corrosion resistance, and cold cracking resistance than regular spray painting, effectively preventing paintaking caused by cold and heat cycles leading to steel rusting.
Rust can corrode the steel, weakening its effective thickness and strength, ultimately resulting in deformation.

Choose reputable brands that specialize in cold storage storage equipment.
Request the supplier to provide a Quality Assurance Certificate and a Test Report, ensuring their claimed dynamic and static load capacities remain effective in low-temperature environments.
